Get to know your D.J.'s! Or D.K. is bored

Hey guys, D.J. D.K. here after a…what...7 month hiatus from anyone posting something on this blog?
Yikes, we completely failed on this one. Something tells me that there isn't a single person actually looking at this blog right now...
Well, I figured that if we are to ever get this thing off the ground, you are potential adoring "fans" might want to know a little about the people that are talking in between all the awesome music being played over at Music of a Blue Haired Modern Day Samurai. And while I won't be giving out any personal info, that's to easy to find on the internet as it is, I can try and give you guys a rough idea about what kind of people we are, and the music we are likely to play[1]. So, without further ado...

Let's start with me, D.J. D.K., or as known on the show, Dan. I’ve been on the show the second longest out of the current D.J.s, and was mostly brought on to provide Rafiq with a distraction[2]. Little did he know that my amazing orator skills and Barry White like voice would cause me to become the star of the show[3]! On the show, I’m likely the one making fun of the other co-hosts, and am the only D.J. to not converse regularly through Facebook chat with our listeners. I’m the guy that started the #1’s from Japan and Korea.

Musically, I’m probably the most random of the lot, bringing in things ranging from Anime to Video Games, from Japan, America, Korea and China. I rarely like Japanese or Korean pop, I do actually bring in a little of that to balance out my more rock tendencies.

Next we got our Glorious Founder, the man who started it all, D.J. Pilotace, or better known as RAFIQ! Starting the show back in our Junior year of college, pretty much the only people who listened to him originally was his family, but not because of any fault of his own, but because of a really cruddy timeslot[4]. After dragging me and our friend Michael into co-hosting with him a small jump in listeners occurred, likely fueling is later additions of 3 other D.J.’[5]s. On air, he’s the guy with the smooth dulcet tones welcoming you to the show every week, and serves as the liaison between us and the rest of Crescent City Radio.

Musically Rafiq tends to play a lot of video game and anime music, from a rather wide genre. He has a tendency of starting off the show with instrumentals[6]. He and I tend to share a lot of musical tastes, which tends to mean we rarely actually comment on each others music. Recently he fell in love with the group the Radwimps[7].

Our newest member of the group is D.J. Visual Kei, or Megan. Formerly a fan of the show when she was abroad in Japan, she joined up in the fall and became our P.R. person immediately[8]. She’s the one responsible for all those weekly Facebook invites, managing the song requests and for starting up this blog[9]! She is obviously the most proactive D.J. in the group, and also the only one to have ever gone to Japan.

Musically, Megan tends to play either Visual Kei or Anime music from slightly more obscure Animes. Like me, she has a tendency of choosing songs specifically to piss someone on the show off.

And finally, the only D.J. not on our blog, Inna! Or Anni! Or whatever I decide to call her that day. The youngest member of our group, she joined with our friend Kiera about a year ago. The only person on the show to not really like anime, Inna is our go to person for Asian dramas. Due to my lack of a laptop Inna is usually the one to handle the #1’s now. You will hear Rafiq and I, but mostly me, make fun of her music tastes a lot, but we do it out of love[10].

Muscially, Inna tends to prefer boy bands, and is the one who plays the most Korean music. She will outright kill anyone who likes AKB48, and has a hardcore love of Arashi.

Well there you have it, a highly biased run down of the D.J.’s you should listen to on our show every week. Hopefully one of us will actually post some stuff here every now and then. Regardless, Rock On listeners[11].

[2] Mostly Factual

[3] Not intended to be a factual statement

[4] Really, he was on at like 1 p.m.

[5] That’s like a literal F*** ton of people for a 2 hour show.

[6] Which drives Megan insane

[8] You too can join if you have no life…or not

[9] So blame her

[10] Not a joke, surprisingly
